Jeff Brooks – Drums/A “few” vocals
Jeff is a retired Air Force veteran who always had a passion for playing the drums. The passion for playing the drums and playing in a band sometimes had to be put on hold due to the job and taking care of family. The desire to continue drumming never left and Jeff was finally able to find the time to dedicate to playing in bands and entertaining folks. As usual life throws us a curve from time to time. Just as the momentum began, Jeff’s job took him to some far-away places. As luck would have it, just as Jeff was able to gain ground with a couple bands in Ohio, he was hit with a job transfer. The job brought Jeff from Ohio to Virginia in the summer of 2010. The passion for drumming would not die and Jeff would not give up. Soon after the move to Virginia, he began the search to get back into the band scene. Jeff decided on attempting to start up a band that would play modern rockin’ country. Starting a band is no easy task. Through several variations, along with starts and stops and making some good friends along the way, Whiskey Bent is where we are today. The key to the whole thing is persistence and having a good group of like-minded musicians who want to have fun while entertaining audiences. Whiskey Bent is just that, a fun rockin’ country band, playing some of the latest rockin’ modern country, mixed with some country classics, outlaw country and hard hitting rock and roll. Jeff’s glad he hung in there.
Dave Mills- Guitar/Vocals
Dave Mills is a southern boy, born and bred. A singer song writer guitar player raised in central KY, Dave cut his teeth and learned his musical chops back in the mid to late 70's on music from the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, the Allman Brothers and any southern rock band of the era. This influence shows in his style of play. Dave has played guitar and fronted vocals with numerous bands, with styles ranging from my brought Dave to the northern Virginia area back in the mid 80's and he has called it home ever since. No stranger to the Northern Virginia music scene, Dave has played and performed locally with classic rock band "The Braddock Road Band" and more recently played guitar and provided lead vocals with several other local blues and roots rock veterans in The Red Rocket Blues Band.
Dave Ploger – Bass/Vocals
Dave loves to put out the bass rhythm along with backing and lead vocals for groups playing rock, country, pop and anything else that moves an audience. He especially loves to lead classic country tunes from the likes of Cash, Haggard, Willie and Yoakam, as well as the latest new country.
Dave played bass guitar and provided backing vocals for local country rock group Jessie Kohls and the Roosters. They performed at a variety of local venues and events over a four-year period. Working with the Roosters Band, Dave learned what it takes to perform professionally with a small group, both musically as well as the mechanics like as setting up and running sound systems.
Starting in 2010 Dave has also been part of the J and A Band. Working with these excellent musicians has taken him to another level and has been tons of fun too!
His passion for music goes further - like making and playing cigar box guitars.
Dave also enjoys boating, biking, volleyball, disc golf, computer programming and otherwise having a great time!
